The Fisherman’s Friend Exposed
This month we get find out more about the man behind The Fisherman’s Friend, a blog that takes both a written and pictorial view of all things Central Coast and was responsible for two of the best blog posts of the last A-League season, being this one and this one.
Name:
Wayne Snowdon
Birthplace:
Sydney
Favourite team:
Central Coast Mariners, of course!
Why do you blog?
I dunno, blogging has no real restrictions or criteria in what you write, and the diversity of opinion, interest and writing style that you encounter on blogs is a real incentive to do it yourself. The medium is the message, man.
Best football match you’ve seen live?
It would have to be the 2nd semi-final against Newcastle last year. I smiled for three days after that, it was something aproaching an epiphany.
You’re the captain of a five-a-side team - who would be the four other players? And what would your team name be?
Cantona, Zidane, Cryuff and Best. The team’s name would be Misunderstood FC.
Apart from blogging about football, what’s your day job?
I’m an ESL teacher, for now. Who knows, tomorrow maybe a streetsweeper.
Favourite football ground?
Bluetongue Stadium, it really is a beautiful place to be at 7pm on a balmy Saturday night in summer.
Most over-rated player in football right now?
Sepp Blatter(sic), or any player whose mouth extends further than their IQ. So, yeah quite a few.
Is it soccer or football?
It’s what ever your mother tongue says it is.
What is your pre-match routine, being it watching or playing?
A few beers before watching a game, a few beers after playing a game. Both require kitting up beforehand, of course.
